Este libro sólo presenta una pequeña parte de la colección de arte contemporáneo del MUAC, con énfasis, desde luego, en las adquisiciones recientes, y algunas de las obras en comodato. Incluye algunos de los highlights obtenidos en etapas anteriores.
Tratamos de evitar una organización alfabética o cronológica, típica de este tipo de presentaciones en sociedad de una colección, prefiriendo un "juego curatorial" asociativo, más epidérmico que filosófico, en la selección y en la distribución de las obras a través de las páginas. Este tratamiento enteramente arbitrario no elude las rupturas ni las confrontaciones, aunque intenta crear un flujo, una especie de continuum narrativo en el que una obra lleva a otra. El lector de cualquier manera encontrará al final de este volumen una lista completa de las obras incorporadas a la colección del MuAc hasta enero de 2008, fecha de cierre de edición, y ésta sí organizada alfabéticamente por autores.

This book presents a selection of works from the contemporary art collection of the MUAC. We here emphasize more recent acquisitions and a few works that have been placed on long-term loan. It also includes some of the highlights from earlier phases of the collection's history. We avoided organizing the entries alphabetically or chronologically, as is typically done when presenting these collections to the public.

This book presents a selection of works from the contemporary art collection of the MUAC. We here emphasize more recent acquisitions and a few works that have been placed on long-term loan. It also includes some of the highlights from earlier phases of the collection's history. We avoided organizing the entries alphabetically or chronologically, as is typically done when presenting these collections to the public.
Instead, in selecting and organizing the works we preferred an associative "curatorial game," more intuitive than philosophical. This somewhat arbitrary presentation does not elude ruptures or confrontations, though it does attempt to create a flow, a narrative continuum of sorts in which one work leads to the next. At the end of this volume, we include a complete listing, organized alphabetically by author, of the works that are part of the MUAC collection as we go to press in January 2008.
